On the morning of 14th May, the ISPTA and Higher Education Department has held a Parents Coffee Morning for Year 10 - 12 parents. More than 80 parents

Earlier on 7th May, the Senior Phase and Higher Education Team have hosted a an Information Meeting for Year 12 parents. We have talked about the current arrangement and support for the Year 12s.

[New] Year 13 Bridge Programme - Weekly Newsletter

Starting from late April, we have arranged daily bridge programmes for the current Year 13s. The Island School Bridge concept is an extension of the Thrive programme that aspires to ensure all students can be the best they can be. The Bridge is specifically focused on preparing our Year 13 Leavers for life after they graduate Island School at the same time as ensuring they remain forever connected to the school.


There are four main themes to the workshops within the programme: Wellbeing, personal development, academic stretch and preparation for university.

[New] YMCA Couselor-in-training Programme 2020 - Recruitment

The YMCA of HK Camping and Lamma Island Outdoor Centre provides unique opportunities for youth to participate in variety of exciting camp experiences. All of the volunteer candidates should be at least 15 years old; possess the 4 core values they promote, caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility, as well as self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges in developing skills like public speaking and designing and coordinating programmes for campers aged 5-14.


Successful applicants will gain hands-on working experience with children, community service hours, self-confidence, applicable skills in wide range of fields and a network of friends who share similar interests and passion, as well as opportunities in practicing English as the camps are conducted in English. Students are able to choose the weeks they are able to join the camps according to your own preference; students are able to choose whether to commit the whole camp season or only few weeks. This flexibility could let student to enjoy a balanced holiday with sufficient study time and also valuable hands-on working experiences.

CUHK Summer Institute 2020

The CUHK Summer Institute (SI) is a credit-bearing summer programme designed for secondary five (Year 12) students. This year, the SI will be conducted online with live lessons during 3 – 14 August 2020. Students will take one to two courses taught by renowned CUHK faculty members to explore study interests and prepare for future study at CUHK. Early-bird discount, Merit Award (for students with outstanding academic credentials) and Financial Assistance (for students with financial needs) are available. Online application will start from May 2020.

[New] Warwick Update: Digital activity for schools

The University of Warwick has created a page ‘Digital Activity for Schools’ to outline some of the online activity that is available for information and support.


New series of lunchtime live chats: Warwick at One

Every weekday from 1pm (8pm HKT), join their students for a short video filmed by the students, and then have a chat with them in the Live Chat. There are two topics each day; the first starting at 1pm and the second at 1.30pm. Each session will be open for an hour.

Virtual Open Day: It will be held in June. Students may register on the page.

[New] Brunel University London GetUReady Programme & Virtual Open Day

Brunel is running a series of online, interactive sessions to help student to develop their study skills and prepare for university life. GetUReady is our free, eight-week programme that will help get student ready for university. Each Wednesday between 11:00 - 15:00 (BST), they'll have sample undergraduate-level lectures from leading academics as well as English language lessons for our international students. Please complete the form here to book your place on the GetUReady programme.

Once student have registered for the programme, the University will send student a link each week to book their sessions for the next event. Student can join as many or as few sessions as you want. The programme is open to all - whether you're joining Brunel in September, or planning to study elsewhere.

[New] Oxford Brookes University - Virtual Subject Taster Sessions and 1:1 Information Session with the Hong Kong Office

Do you want to explore your degree options at university? They've got some fantastic Virtual Subject Taster Sessions aimed at Year 12 and first year college students, to give you an interactive experience of a broad range of different subjects. You can have a go at filming a stop motion animation, explore dystopian themes in literature, and use a virtual lab to explore the human anatomy, to name a few - or you can try them all! If you'd like to access these exciting resources, please choose your chosen subject and complete short form to gain access to the platform.

[New] Keele University Virtual Open Day

Keele is hosting a Virtual Open Day on 20 June; this is a wonderful way for you to experience what Keele has to offer. Students can register using the booking form. Once registered they will be sent further details including a programme of events and how to log on.

This week, UChicago celebrates Coalition Week, an event meant to provide college search resources to you and to celebrate all the hard work you do! They invite you to join UChicago and many of their Midwestern partners to learn about the ins and outs of the college admissions process.

[New] The Cooper Union - Introduction to Architecture for High School Students Online

The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture of The Cooper Union is proud to announce summer intensive program that features a new virtual curriculum accessible to students worldwide.


Their Introduction to Architecture Online program focuses on introducing High School students to the architecture discipline through lectures, discussions, workshops, design projects and critiques. During the course of the program students develop a portfolio to use as part of their application for admission to professional architecture programs.


Live Information Session

Wednesday, May 20, Zoom | 4:00PM

Join their public Live Information Session to meet the faculty and staff and get an overview of the program's curriculum, pedagogy, and focus for this year. The session will feature examples of former participants' work and presentations by program faculty including Prof. Mersiha Veledar and Prof. James Lowder, followed by a live Q & A session with Assistant Dean Hayley Eber.


[New] Dutch Research Universities Consortium (DRU): Online Open Day

On Friday June 5, from 16:00-18:00 CEST the Dutch Research Universities Consortium will be hosting the second edition of DRU View! This online open day consists of two parts. Part one will consist of a Study in Holland presentation and general Q&A session.During part two, participants are welcome to chat with DRU institutional members in their own online meeting/chat area.


Prior to the day, all registrants will receive access to a previously-recorded institutional webinars from each DRU member to prepare for their chat sessions. DRU invites students, parents and counselors around the world to participate. You can register here.


You can also watch the institutional presentations they have recorded for this event. In these presentations you will learn about that particular university and their programmes. This will prepare you for the institutional meetings/chats. You can find all the institutional videos here.
