Island School Bridge Programme

This week we will launch this year's Bridge Programme. This is something that we initiated last year when the exams were cancelled and have decided to continue with it this year. The Bridge is aimed at helping students prepare for life in university and to maintain connections between the school and the students after they have left. Have a look at this week’s Bridge newsletter to see what is coming up. For now this is aimed at Year 13 students but we will be expanding it to Years 11 to 13 over time. Please join these programmes as they will definitely help with your examination and university preparation.

Select a course or track, with or without student housing and join our (online) social programme. US - Boston University - Summer Journalism Academy

For those who are thinking about a career in communications or simply enjoy writing, we have just the thing: the Boston University Summer Journalism Academy. For the last 11 years, students are taught by award-winning journalists, such as Pulitzer Prize winner Lara Salahi and Sherrod Blakely, who will show them how to follow facts and get to the heart of stories affecting communities. From protests to town hall meetings to interviewing local and state politicians, our students are covering issues that matter in their communities.

Students also have the option of selecting a photojournalism track, taught by veteran photojournalist Stephen Haines. He worked as a staff photographer, assignment and photo editor for the Boston Globe. He will help students sharpen their camera skills to teach them the basics of visual storytelling.

No matter what session you select, they will learn practical skills that they can apply to any career. Two-week sessions begin on June 21, July 5, and July 19. Learn more by visiting our website, and to apply soon, as spots are limited. If students are accepted to the program and pay the registration fee by April 24, they will receive a special discount of $200 off the tuition using this discount code online: 21BUADMISSIONS
