Higher Education Workshop

As we are not able to arrange university visits and university fair this year, we will arrange workshops and information sessions online via Zoom. Please keep checking your email, HE Website and social media for the event updates.


On Friday 19th August, we had arranged the first US Workshop for Year 13 this year. More than 40 students and parents have joined

us! Please stay tuned and more are coming!



What's on at Island School...

[New] Year 12 & 13 Parents Information Evening

On Wednesday 2nd September, the Senior Phase and Higher Education Team will organize Year 12 & 13 Parents Information Evening via Zoom at 5.30pm (Year 13) and 6.15pm (Year 12). Further details will be sending out by email this week. Recording will be shared after the event.


[New] Year 13 Higher Education Workshop (US Focused)

On Friday 21st August, Mr. Dakaj has arranged a Higher Education Workshops for Year 13 students and parents. During the first HE Workshop, Mr. Dakaj shared an overview of higher education in the United States for both students and parents, including information for guiding you through the university planning process.

New Higher Education Counsellor

This year, we have a new HE Counsellor to join our Team, Mr. Orteg Dakaj!


Mr Dakaj joined us this August and is thrilled to be welcomed by the IS community. He looks forward to providing you with continuous updates on the higher education landscape around the world.



2020 - 2021 Higher Education Counsellor List

For the school year of 2020-2021,

Mr. Wilkinson will be responsible for 12R, 13E and IBCP students;

Mr. Dakaj will be responsible for 12F, 12W, 13N, 13R and Oxbridge students;

Mr. Whitehead will be responsible for 12D, 12E, 12N, 13D, 13F and 13W.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come to the STW HE Office (Room A209) and speak to us.


Higher Education Website and Social Media

This year we have a newly designed Higher Education Website. Please check this website frequently for the resources. Although we will send out this Vision Newsletter every 2 weeks, but all latest information will be posted to the website regularly. You may login to ISLE > Students > Higher Education or check this page for the instructions. This is for Island School internal use so students and parents are

required to login with your gmail account.

You may also follow Island School Higher Education's Facebook and Instagram accounts to stay tuned with our latest updates. Please search for @islandschool.careers and click on the "Like Page" or "Follow" button!





Year 13 Higher Education Session

On Tuesday 11th August 2020, we have arranged Year 13 Higher Education Session for students via Zoom. Recording and relevant documents have been uploaded to Google Classroom and sent by email. Year 13 students should check the timeline and deadline frequently, and don't forget to check the updates from University Websites especially under the current COVID-19 situation.

[New] University of Sydney Webinar

The University of Sydney Webinar has been arranged for ESF Students on Thursday 27th August at 3:30pm - 4.30pm. Please click this link for registration.

The zoom link will be sent out to the students who signed up a 1-2 days before the webinar.

[New] University of Chicago - Neubauer College Week

UChicago is celebrating Neubauer College Week, a series of events that will provide college search resources and celebrate all the hard work you do! Join UChicago and our partners as we explore the ins and outs of the college admissions process.

  • Wednesday, 2nd September from 7–8:00 p.m. CDT: Essay Writing Workshop. Learn about college essays with Veronica Hauad, Deputy Director for Access, Affordability, and Inclusion. 

  • Thursday, 3rd September from 7–8 p.m. CDT.: Explorando Universidades. Learn about a variety of institutions, including Florida State University, St. Mary’s University, Stanford University, and the University of Chicago, through a Spanish language panel.

  • Friday, 4th September from 7–8 p.m. CDT: Diversity in the City of Chicago. Join admissions counselors as they highlight a number of Chicago’s great neighborhoods and identify some of their must sees!

[New] The SEED program at Brandeis University

You're invited to apply for our annual Students Exploring and Embracing Diversity (SEED) program this fall. The event will take place virtually from October 17-18, and provides an opportunity for prospective students to connect with fellow accomplished high school seniors, as well as faculty, staff, and current students at Brandeis University.


Brandeis provides a space for students to explore and engage in topics of diversity and intersectional communication, attend faculty lectures and information sessions and participate in evaluative interviews to support their admissions applications.

The Cooper Union 2020-2021 undergraduate application is live! Please be sure to submit all requested materials.

Due to the widespread of COVID-19, this year we are not able to arrange information sessions and university visits at school. However, many universities have uploaded virtual talks, workshops and visits to their websites, and some of them will arrange online seminars in the future time. You may check the event page on our HE Website or check the university websites directly for the latest information.
