Happy Lunar New Year!

Since the epidemic situation is still severe, schools has extended the existing arrangements on suspension of face-to-face classes after the CNY break. The Year 12 Zoom Parent Information Evening will be held on Wednesday, 9 February at 6pm. The Senior Phase Team will provide an update on what is happening in Year 12 this term including the Relationships and Sex Education Curriculum and information about how to support your child’s well-being.


[New] Year 12 Higher Education Information Evening for Parents

The Higher Education Zoom Information Evening for all Year 12 parents will be held on Tuesday, 22 February at 5pm. The HE team will share important information about the Year 12 HE Programme that supports students’ university applications.

What's on in Hong Kong...

[New] The Chinese University of Hong Kong - Public Lecture Series 2022

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is presenting a Public Lecture Series this year. The Series aims at helping secondary 3 to 6 students to explore undergraduate programmes at CUHK that best match their talents and interests.

There are 5 lectures in the Series: four lectures on topical issues central to new undergraduate programmes that are launched in 2022 [namely, Earth and Environmental Sciences (JS4648), Learning Design and Technology (JS4386), Computational Data Science (JS4416), and Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship and Healthcare Management (JS4725)]. The fifth lecture showcases the 5 engineering programmes unbundled from the Engineering (broad-based) programme in 2022, including Mechanical and Automation Engineering (JS4408), Computer Science and Engineering (JS4412), Information Engineering (JS4446), Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (JS4458), and Mathematics and Information Engineering (JS4733).

[New] British Council Study UK University Webinar Series - Unlock Your Full Potential – Studying Life Science, Sport and Veterinary Medicine in the UK

In this session, academic speakers from the University of Leeds, the University of Portsmouth and the University of Edinburgh will introduce the UK's life science, sport and veterinary medicine courses and provide an insight into some of the do's and don'ts of getting a job. Moreover, a panel of current and former students will also share insider information on studying these courses in the UK.

[New] UK - Royal Holloway, University of London and the UK Supreme Court- Free Online Course

Royal Holloway and the UK’s Supreme Court, the highest court in the country, have partnered to launch a free two-week online course via FutureLearn which is open to all ages. This is an excellent additional resource or opportunity for further learning for students who are studying or interested in law, international relations, government and politics. During the course, learners will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the role, inner workings, and history of the Supreme Court

  • Compare the UK Supreme Court with the United States Supreme Court

  • Debate and evaluate recent cases heard by the Supreme Court

  • Identify the court’s role in relation to the Commonwealth and Europe

  • Investigate the various roles that make up the Supreme Court

The course is interactive, including articles, case studies, video interviews, quizzes and mini lectures. It includes interviews from former Supreme Court Justices including Lady Hale and former President Lord Phillips, as well as Current Justices including Lady Arden and Lord Sales. [New] US - 2022-2023 Common App Essay Prompts

These days, a little consistency is a great thing! The Common App are pleased to announce that the essay prompts for the 2022-2023 application season will remain the same.

We know that the current application year hasn’t quite wrapped up, but of course, we don’t expect juniors to start writing essays now. But if the inspiration strikes students who want to begin brainstorming topics, they can rest assured that the prompts will not change next year.


[New] US - Cornell University Precollege Summer Program

As one of the nation's longest running and most highly regarded precollege academic programs, it gives motivated students the chance to

  • Get a head start on college by earning 3 to 8 credits and a Cornell transcript

  • Immerse themselves in rigorous university courses taught by top Cornell faculty

  • Prep for college applications with one-on-one admissions counseling

  • Connect with a diverse group of high school students from around the world

Students choose from regular undergraduate Cornell courses in Arts and Architecture, Business and Hospitality, Engineering, Health and Humanities, International Relations, Science and Technology, Social Change, Veterinary Medicine, and more. They can also combine on-campus and/or online courses to create their own six- or nine-week program.

Courses are offered between May 31 and August 2, 2022. Limited financial aid is available for on-campus courses.


Applications open in late January.


[New] US - Manhattan College - Majors to Careers

Each session will highlight a specific field of interest and explain how Manhattan College students find internships, network with professionals, and choose careers based on areas of academic interest.


On Saturday, February 12, we will host a Pre-Professional Health Careers panel and presentation which covers everything from Pre-Med and Pre-Dental to Exercise Science and Public Health.

US - Boston University's Summer Term Pre-College Programs

Next summer, we are offering five pre-college programs, each of which provides rigorous and collaborative college life experiences that will enable students to gain a strong sense of their personal and academic potential. Here is a brief overview of each:

  • High School Honors is a six-week residential, commuter, or online program in which students take Boston University undergraduate courses and earn up to 8 transferable college credits. Students must be entering their junior or senior year of high school in fall 2022.

  • RISE Internship/Practicum is a six-week, non-credit residential or commuter program in which students conduct scientific research in a university lab under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students must be entering their senior year of high school in fall 2022.

  • Academic Immersion (AIM) is a three-week, non-credit residential program for students to focus intensively on a single academic topic while experiencing life on a college campus. This summer we are offering three AIM tracks: Introduction to Experimental Psychology; Introduction to Medicine; and Creative Writing. Each track combines classroom work in the subject area with experiential learning activities. Students must be entering their junior or senior year of high school in fall 2022.

  • Summer Challenge is a two-week residential or online program in which students take two non-credit seminars of their choice and experience college life. Students must be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school in fall 2022.

  • Summer Preview is a one-week, non-credit residential or commuter program in which students explore one subject of interest while previewing the college experience. Students must be entering eighth grade or their freshman or sophomore year of high school in fall 2022.
